How to Purchase a Rabbit from Clyde Farms

Step 1: Inquire

Inquire right away if you are interested in a particular rabbit. I work with people in the order of inquiry received. Some rabbits garner a lot of interest right away, and even though I may have just posted the rabbit, there may already be several inquiries.

Please let me know of the reason/purpose for purchasing a rabbit. This really does matter, as I need to make sure the rabbit is of the quality you expect. Not every animal born is a show prospect even though it comes from quality stock. Please let me know honestly if you are looking for a pet, if you are looking for a brood prospect to breed, if you are looking to show, looking to raise rabbits for meat etc. There are no wrong answers here, with this information I can let you know if I have an animal who is suitable for you and if the specific animal you inquired about is suitable for you.

Step 2: Ready to Buy or Pass

Ask your questions, ask for photos, inquire on price and get all the information you need to make a decision. Then let me know if you are going to buy or pass. There is no shame in this! Do not be shy in telling me if you would like to pass on the rabbit as I need to notify the next person inquiring whether the rabbit is available or not.

As long as you are continuing to communicate with me on the rabbit, I will not sell the rabbit to another party as we are settling the details. If you stop communication I will move to the next interested party.

Do not place your deposit until your questions are answered to your satisfaction, you have agreed on price and a date and location of pickup.

Step 3: Sign the Sales Contract and Place Deposit

Review and sign the sales contract and place your deposit to hold the rabbit. Per the sales contract, I will not hold a rabbit without a 50% deposit. This protects everyone involved, it protects my time, it officially reserves the rabbit for you so it will not be sold to another party, and it accurately informs other interested parties whether the rabbit is available or not.

I accept cash or Venmo to hold a rabbit. I strongly prefer Venmo as all of our feed purchases come out of the this account. Venmo is a product of PayPal, but it does not charge the recipient to use or remove the funds so no cost is passed to the buyer.

Once both a signed sales contract is received and the deposit is received, I will update the listing to reflect that the rabbit has either been RESERVED or SOLD depending on if the rabbit has actually left my possession.

Step 4: Pick-up and Final Payment

Please have Cash or Venmo ready to complete the balance due at time of pick-up. We will go over the rabbit together at the time of pick-up to verify health, teeth/bite, and sex on all rabbits. Please check the rabbit thoroughly and notify me BEFORE the rabbit leaves my possession of any discrepancies. Rabbits sold as pets may have disqualifications that would prevent it from showing well such as a white toenail on a solid rabbit. Again, if the rabbit is to be a show or brood prospect I need to know this at the time of inquiry. If the rabbit was sold as a show/brood prospect and it has an unidentified or undisclosed disqualification, I will refund your deposit.

Rescheduling Pick-up:

I will reschedule pick-up once, within reason. Cage space and the cost of maintaining rabbits is always an issue in a busy show barn. You should make every effort to honor our original agreement. I am aware that illnesses, deaths and the like are beyond anyone's control. As outlined in the sales contract, failure to pick up your animal up as arranged will forfeit your deposit and any payments made. I will resell or retain the rabbit as appropriate.

Deposit Policy:

Please read the sales contract as it outlines the policy in its entirety. A brief overview:

Deposits are non-refundable if you decide you no longer want the rabbit or if you do not pick up the rabbit as agreed. If I cancel the sale, I will refund the deposit in full. As these are live animals I reserve the right to cancel the sale for any reason. If the rabbit were to become sick or die before pick-up, I will refund the deposit in full or it can be applied to another animal (buyer choice).

Pet Sales Policy:

I generally have pets available, typically with several to choose from. Please note, we do not breed to produce and sell pets. This is important to note because our show picks come first and foremost, and then brood and show prospects for sale come next. Pets are available once we decide a particular rabbit will not be retained by us to show or sell at shows. Most pets available are males. We may occasionally have females available, but please note, males generally make better pets. Our prices vary based on the quality of the animal. You can purchase a show prospect as a pet, but understand the price will reflect that. Pet rabbits do not come with pedigrees.
